To say that I was desperate when I joined Wealthy Affiliate is an understatement. Out of a job, seven months pregnant, with a one-year-old and a husband who was making only $500 a month, I had no idea how we were going to manage. I was desperate to kind some way to support my family, and sat down at the computer and searched Google, trying to find some way to make money online.
After coming across plenty of pages that screamed “scam”, I kept seeing mention of a site called Wealthy Affiliate that actually taught you how to make money selling other people’s products online. This actually seemed legit, and after a long discussion with my husband, I decided to give it a try. The monthly fee (then $30 a month) was a major cut of our income, but I decided to take the leap and go for it.
Right away, I knew I had stumbled onto something big. Yes, I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of information there was. And I had never done anything remotely like this before. But everything made sense. And there was an enormous community there ready to help me get started and get successful.
One of the things that helped me the most was Wealthy Affiliate’s 8 week action plan. Instead of just having a lot of facts and techniques thrown at me, I was being given a program to follow. And as I followed it I began to see small successes. From my first Google ranking, to my first sale, to building a list of responsive buyers, I went from knowing nothing to making money… and then more money.
A couple of weeks ago I had my first $400 day. I can’t even begin to tell you how that felt. Seeing those numbers in my Clickbank account was so incredible, and so was the knowledge that I would never have to go back to living the way I used to.
Living below the poverty line was so stressful. Although I had a beautiful, healthy family, there was always so much tension. I can’t tell you the number of times that I just sat down and cried because I didn’t know how I was going to put supper on the table that night. Checking the mailbox, answering the phone, I was always so worried that I was going to be hearing from someone else we owed money to. And I saw how much pressure my husband was under as well.
Now, those stresses are gone. I know how I can provide for my family, and how we can live comfortably without that constant tension. I know that I can always make more money if I need it, and that I never have to be in that situation again. Wealthy Affiliate has given me the tools that I need to be able to totally turn my life around and start giving my family what they deserved.

Your story is very inspiring. I came across Wealthy Affiliate also while looking for a way to make some money. We own our own Home Building business, and of course with the economy the way it is, you can imagine how hard it is for us continue to make money. I have two children in college at the same time (now thankful for financial aid), a business that isn’t selling homes and other real estate, and a husband who now is buying other people’s merchandise and selling them for more to try and supplement the little income we do have. That’s where I come in. I’ve always been a homewife and mother to my family. It’s now my time to try and bring in some income. I keep reading about Wealthy Affiliate, over and over and over. It scares me to think about the work that is involved. I am willing to put in the time, because I do have it, but I can’t seem to make myself become a member. I think I’m scared. I think I need an additional boost of confidence. How do you come by that? Any additional info you can provide to make me do it would surely help. Did you use their SiteRubix to create your website and do you promote other businesses besides Wealthy Affiliate?
Hi Angie,
I know what you’re talking about. I’m like that too, I always have to push myself to jump into something, even if I know it’s going to be good for me.
One thing that you have to do in this business is to take action. That’s the only way you’re going to be successful, by taking lots and lots of action.
I wouldn’t worry about the work right now. If you’re a mom of two, you know what it’s like to work hard, but enjoy it at the same time. Also, if you’re at WA, you’ll really learn everything you need, and that will help.
Right now, you’re scared of the unknown, but you’ll see, the more you do it, the better you’ll get at it, and the more you’ll enjoy it.
In answer to your questions, I didn’t use SiteRubix for this particular site, because it’s a blog, and Site Rubix isn’t blogging software. But SiteRubix is great for the kind of niche affiliate sites that you’ll be making.
And yes, I definitely promote other programs besides WA. In fact, the vast majority of what I promote has nothing to do with making money whatsoever. I’ve got websites on weight loss, pets, health issues, relationships– you name it.
I know where you’re at– you almost know it’s right for you, but you’re just not 100% sure.
But the thing is that you’ll never be 100% sure till you just go ahead and do it. So right now, you just gotta go ahead and jump in, and you’re going to be great.
Let me give you a suggestion. If you sign up with this link then you’ll get Who Loves Money as a bonus. It’s not available from the main sales page, but it’s an ebook that’s full of free or low cost methods to make money, and I think it’ll really be helpful for you in your current situation.
If you need a little more of a reason to join, think about your family. It’s going to mean so much for them, not just in terms of financial freedom and stress relief, but they are going to be so proud of you. I can’t even tell you what it does for my husband to see what I’ve built.
Let me know when you join. I’ll always be more than happy to give you a hand when you need it.
You can do it, and you’re going to be great!
See you there,
Rachel
